The Murderous Tribe
Founded by the Ochoa family, this clan is fairly reclusive and avoids other clans. Many speculate on the reasons, but the truth is that they cannot trust the other clans. They are quiet assassins, using poisons to hunt and kill their prey. They care and love one another, using their prowess and skills at stealth and silent combat as a boasting game. When the children come of age, they are sent out to hunt their first dragon, which becomes the armor in which they will spend their lives adjusting, adding to, and over all making their own. They treat outsiders with distrust and will avoid letting people land on their shores without due cause. They are only rivaled in their stealth by the Bog Burglars in their stealth, but outmatch everyone when it comes to poisons. Few who have encountered the Murderous Tribe outside their island home have lived long enough to pass on what they know, so much speculation and mystery surrounds the tribe. They aren’t so mysterious, however, they just prefer to be left alone. Most of their work is done at night, when most dragons are asleep and their prey is easily stalked. |
Clan Leader: Garaile Ochoa
Average height and not bulky, strong in both voice and features
Garaile Ochoa is tall and strong, raised to be the clan leader by his father, Ordis Ochoa. Direct descendant of the founders of the clan, he rules with the traditions handed down from his family line. Strength and stealth are his ways, and though he is hard to read, his Mood dragonskin armor helps read his emotions. |
Heir: Nilda Ochoa
Quiet girl with an imposing presence
Like most of the clan, Nilda Ochoa has a fierce amount of pride in her family. Leadership has always been held by those carrying their name, and she is willing to accept the burden when it comes time. She has a great deal of respect for the eldest members of the clan, and strongly believes in tradition despite being as young as she is. While she is good with a blade, she is deadly and precise when it comes to poisons, darts, and needles. Preserving the old knowledge of the clan is important to her, and she quickly gets angry when her clanmates are ignorant of it. She tends to be wary of those outside the clan, on guard around them at all times. Despite this, she does have a large collection of books, stories, poetry and sagas from other clans and areas. |
Territory
The island is full of mountains and crags, so the village is located close to the bay, giving the villagers access to trade (when traders do risk the waters near the island) and easy fishing. The village is made of mostly wood and rock huts, some carved into cliff sides that sprout up around the edges of the plateau the village itself is situated on. Most hunting is fishing, with gatherers going out across the giant crags, with and without dragons, to gather the necessary herbs, fruits, and natural poisons the village uses.
At the top of the sloped plateau is a large housing structure, carved downwards into the rock, to house the dragons the clan has trained to be transport across the mountain tops. They are pack mules of the best sort, and help the tribe get to places they would not normally be able to arrive at.
In the center of the village is the original longhouse, made and still resided in by the original Ochoa family. The Chief and his heir hold meetings in this hut with the tribesmen, and visitors to the village are kept here, under guard, during their stay on the island.

Rules of the Clan
Rule 1 – Outsiders should not be permitted free reign of the village. They will always be escorted, either by a guard, or by the chief or heir themselves.
Rule 2 – Any call to arms is to call all warriors only. If a call to arms is brought, children and those unable to fight must remain indoors. Any who do not report to the call to arms and is not of those two categories will be banished from the island.
Rule 3 – Issues and problems that arise within the clan must be brought before the Chief. No blood feuds will be tolerated upon the island between the members of the Tribesmen. If the chief is unavailable, the Heir is to oversee the dispute, then bring matters to the Chief after rectifying the situation.
Coming of Age Ritual
All children who are coming of age must prove themselves by going out into the crags and killing a dragon. Those who do not return are presumed dead and left behind. Those who return make their armor from the dragon’s flesh and bones that they killed.
Holidays
Mylee’s Rebirth (Spring Equinox) – During this time, the tribesmen will only don their helms when a fight is imminent. Planting of the few crops grown begins and the feed animals are herded out to the new grasses. This represents the birth of new life into the world, given by the God Mylee.
Zepon’s Betrayal (Fall Equinox) – During this time, the tribesmen don their helms at all times, sleeping with the helm next to them. All feed animals are herded to the barns, and the few crops are sewn. The ripened animals are slaughtered, their entrails set as sacrifice to Zepon. This is the representation of Zepon’s betrayal to the gods, and his help in teaching Man of wine and sacrifice.
Ai’s Gift (Winter Equinox) – This is the time of love. Much time is spent in revelry, and many weddings happen at this point, as most people coming of age are born during the Summer. The tribe will drink the wine of Zepon, and go out to do Mylee’s work in the name of Ai.
The Red Spirit’s Mark (Summer Equinox) – This is the time of celebration, when the sun is at its highest and game is once more beginning to move across the island. Many children are born around this time, and the men and elders celebrate with much wine and song. This celebration represents the safety that the Red Spirit brings to his children, and occasionally the tribe will invite the clan leaders of the Bog Burglars, in respect to the Red Spirit. The invites, however, almost rarely arrive at their destination during this time. At the height of the Moon on this night, the tribe will go as two parties, one to guard the village, the other to hunt the Dragon’s Nest on the island. They return at sun up, whether the nest has been rattled or not.
