Long ago the Barbaric Archipelago was legend to be one massive continent called Nova. Nova was a land of myth and legend; filled with mystical beats and fey folk. Dragons ruled this land; given long life and magical abilities by Caster, and the deadly Grace blessed by Zepon. They ruled this land; humans were nothing but cattle for these beasts. They were the blessed species, the favored ones!

The other Deities saw the unbalance and they were displeased; for the gods should not have favored one species over the other. It tipped the balance of the world…so in order to correct it they chose a human. They guided him into uniting the humans under one kingdom, creating a grand city and defenses against the flying beasts. Soon many kingdoms began to rise across the continent of Nova. Humans began to hold their own against the dragon beasts and claimed and held territories of their own. Balance was restored; and it was kept….for a while.

The first king; was considered to be god favored; no one questioned his rule. However he grew greedy and proud; he wanted all the kingdoms under his rule. Dragons and humans alike would have to fallow him. So secretly he beseeched Caster the Goddess of chaos and magic; he wanted a device that would allow him to rule all dragon kind and humans alike! Caster found this idea amusing; and gave him the secret to achieve his desire.

So in secret he began to create the weapon; the other gods found out what he was doing and were greatly angered by his deeds. They pulled their favor from him and cursed his family; namely his two twin sons that were about to be born. They were cursed and destined to bring destruction to the grand kingdoms of old; letting them be at the dragon’s mercy once more. With that the gods disappeared from this world; becoming just that of myth and legend.

The twins were born and eventually the younger twin Noku Noru took over the kingdom after their father was mysteriously killed. Noku suspected the deed was done by his older brother Core and placed the blame on him, banishing him from the kingdom.

Noku eventually took on a queen; she was said to be the most beautiful in all the lands. All loved her; and it was not long before she became pregnant with the nest ruling prince. Unfortunately the poison of greed ran strong in the Noru line; slowly Noku became paranoid and greedy. He found his father’s old notes and secretly set out to complete its work. Deeper and deeper did he dive into his seclusion; locking himself deep into his castle. All was not well for his family either; as Noru began to become more and more insane. To the point where he suddenly turned on his wife and sentenced her to death under the crime of adultery.

It wasn’t long after that his father’s work was completed! He created what is now known today as the Dragons Heart; weapon that would control all dragon kind. It had power to move mountains, and control forests; to turn the very land against those that lived on it. This jewel would give him dominion over all! He would be the supreme ruler; a god in mortal skin! But the weapon would not work until the final step to activate it was completed.

The sky rained blood on the day of the activation; mass destruction appeared everywhere on the continent of Nova. Volcanoes erupted, rivers flooded, and the land itself began breaking apart. Last but not least the continent began to sink below the great sea. In the midst of this great destruction though a noble sacrifice Core Noru ensured that the Dragons Heart would not be used for its original purpose or resurface again.

The continent of Nova sunk into oblivion; only a handful of humans survived on the patches of land that stayed above the water. The prediction of the destruction of the kingdoms came to pass, humans now lived alone on islands with little means to transverse the rough waters that now surrounded them. They were limited in the materials they could use and much of their advances in civilization lost. The surviving humans created their own civilizations and thus the creations of the clans of the Barbaric Archipelago were born. Dragons once more, with the power of flight and claw had a distinct advantage over the human race.
