Fenella woke up and yawned before stretching out her front legs and digging them into the floor of her den and stretching her body out. Standing up she gave herself a shake to get rid of any feathers or bits of fur that had stuck to her scales. It was pitch black in her den like it always was but she knew it was morning. As she crawled through the small whole and poked her head out from under the bush the sun's light made her blink several times. Seeing the coast was clear she wriggled out from under the bush> She was beginning to get to big to wiggle in and out from the bush. She would have to think of something else to hide the entrance. Maybe she could get a hollow log and drag it over and put it in front of the bush and make the entrance between the two.
Sighing she decided she would figure it out later. Opening her wings she took off. Her scale color was a true blue letting everyone know that she was relaxed as she searched for something to eat for breakfast. She scented the rabbit before she saw or heard it. She was soaring above it and the large hare never saw her coming as she dived and grabbed it by it's scruff with her claws. They dug into the fur cutting into it making it squeal in pain. She sighed and landed high up in a tree and lowered her head. She grabbed it's head and with one twist she ended it's cries of fear and pain.
It was quite a large hair but she would have to hut again in a few hours. She wasn't eating enough as it was and was very skinny and small for her size because of her malnutrition. Sighing Fenella began ripping chunks off the rabbit and swallowing them. To soon every last scrap of the rabbit was gone including the bones. And she was still hungry. But she was afraid to hunt again to soon for fear of scaring off the pray. So instead she flew to the creak beside her oak tree and took several deep swallows of water hoping to take the edge off of her hunger. Like usual it worked helping to fill her up.
